How people lament about disasters and the loss of worldly things, but do not attach importance to disasters in religion!

Hafiz Ibn ‘Aqil al-Hanbali (431-513 AH) wrote in his book al -Fu nun:

“ Among the amazing things that I have observed regarding the condition of people is their numerous lamentation due to the destruction of cities, the death of relatives and ancestors, as well as their grief due to a small inheritance, accompanied by censure of time and people, as well as lamentation about a hard life .

▪️ But at the same time, they see how Islam is destroyed, how religion is split, the Sunnah is killed, how innovations take over, sins are committed, how they are in a useless occupation that does not bring good and in filth that destroys and harms.

▪️ However, I have not seen any of them lament for their religion, to weep over a wasted life and grieve over their omissions. And I do not see any other reason for all this, except for their small concern for their religion and the great position of this world in their eyes.

▪️ And they are opposite in this to what our righteous predecessors (as-salaf as-salih) were, who were content with insignificant things and were sad about religion!”

▪️ Holy is Allah, this man lived a thousand years ago! What would he say when he saw the people of our time?! We ask Allah Almighty for well-being in this world and in the next world!
