Faith is not memorized religious texts and not a huge amount of knowledge. Its not in prayer, fasting and charity. We see a large number of orientalists who are fluent in all the subtleties of the Arabic language, understand the smallest details of religion, know Islamic literature and write volumes of books about Islam. We know of hypocrites who pray, fast, and perform other forms of worship. However, neither one nor the other makes neither one nor the other believers.

Faith is something intangible, located in the heart, which cannot be touched, seen, measured, weighed, but at the same time increasing and decreasing. What makes you say and do things. That which makes the heart burn and shrink. That which lies with a weight in the heart and puts down strong roots in it, but at the same time, at any moment, it can disappear imperceptibly, evaporate, imperceptibly disappear, that you cannot even catch it, grab onto it, prevent it from leaving.

It’s not subject to you and does not depend on your desires and whims. This is a gift, this is a grace given to you by the Most Merciful, the Most Merciful.

Our Lord! Do not divert our hearts aside after You have guided us on the straight path, and grant us mercy from Yourself, for You are the Giver!
