The Greatness of the Dua
It is narrated from the words of Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “There is nothing more worthy before Allah Almighty than a prayer / du’a /” (al-Bukhari in “al- Adabul-mufrad” 712, “Sahih at-targhib va-t-tarhib” 1629)
Imam Ash-Shawkani, may Allah have mercy on him, said about this hadith: “There is an opinion that this proves the power of Allah and the helplessness of the one who calls to him with prayer. You can even say so, because if a prayer is worship, or even the “brain of worship”, then it is natural that this is the most worthy deed before Allah. After all, Allah created creations precisely so that they worship Him. As Almighty Allah said about this: “I created jinn and people only so that they worship Me” (Az-Zariyyat, 51:56)”. See Rememberers’ Manual, p. 30.
Sufyan ibn ‘Wayna said: “Do not stop making du’a and do not let your conjectures stop you from making it. Indeed, Allah answered the prayer of Iblis, while he is the most sinister of creations: “Iblis said: ‘Lord! Grant me reprieve until the day they are resurrected.’ He said: “Indeed, you are one of those who have been granted a respite” (al-Hijr, 15:36-37).” See Shu’ab al-Iman, 1107.
