The desire of the righteous predecessors to do what they heard. Importance of deeds after knowledge

It is reported from the words of the wife of the Messenger of Allah, Umm Habiba, may Allah be pleased with her, that she heard the Messenger of Allah say:

“Allah will certainly build a house in Paradise for any of His slaves who profess Islam and of their own free will pray to Allah daily, performing twelve rak’ahs in addition to the obligatory prayers.”
Muslim 722

Umm Habiba said:

“And I have always performed these rak’ahs since I heard his words.”

Amr ibn Aws said:

“And I have always prayed these rak’ahs since I heard her words.”

An-Nu’man ibn Salim said something similar.

Amr ibn Aws is one of the narrators of this hadeeth.

The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

“On the Day of Resurrection, the feet of a slave will not move until they ask him: about his life – how he spent it, about his knowledge – did he perform deeds in accordance with it, about his property – how did he acquire it and what did he spend , and about the body – how he used it. Among them is mentioned: “… about his knowledge – whether he performed deeds in accordance with it.”
as-Silsilat-us-Sahiha” (946)

From Abu-d-Darda, may Allah be pleased with him, it is reported that he said: “Verily, I am afraid that on the Day of Resurrection my Lord will call me before (His) creations and say to me:“ Oh, ‘Uwaymir … What did you do what you knew?!”
Sahih-ut-Targhib wa-t-Tarhib” (129).

Allah Almighty said:
O you who believe! Why do you say what (yourself) do not do? Great is the hatred of Allah for the fact that you say what you do not ”(As-Saff, 2-3).

One of the great tabi’ins, trustworthy and much worshiped Mutarrif ibn ‘Abdullah ibn ash-Shihkhir turned to Allah for protection from this, and said in his supplication:

“Oh Allah! I turn to You for protection from anyone being happier than me through the knowledge that You have given me, and I turn to You for protection from me being a warning to another
. (1358).

Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah grant him mercy, after he mentioned the hadeeth from Abu Umamah, may Allah be pleased with him, about the words of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and welcome him:

Whoever reads “Ayat-ul-Kursi” after each obligatory prayer, only death will separate him from entering Paradise “
” Sahih-ul-Jami’-us-sagir “(6464)

said about his teacher: “It came to me that Shaykh-ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah grant him His mercy, said:“ I never left his recitation after every prayer ”See:“ Zad-ul-
Ma’ad » (1/285).

Al-Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “The Qur’an was sent down to do deeds in accordance with it, and people made it an act to read it.”

Mentioned these words Ibn al-Jawzi said: “Ie. they limited themselves to reading it and left doing things in accordance with it “
Talbis iblis” (p. 137)
