Pointing out Disadvantages
Abbad al-Hawvas (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
“When you censure your brothers, you must first look at yourself, have a sincere relationship with your Lord, and show compassion for your brothers. And, along with this, your shortcomings should worry you more than the vice of other people. Let each of you ask one another for sincere advice. And the one who gives sincere advice to you or receives it from you deserves to be encouraged.
• As Umar ibn al-Khattab said (may Allah be pleased with him):
“May Allah have mercy on the one who pointed out my shortcomings”
