In trials – good
Ibn al-Qayim (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
“The decision of Allah in relation to a believing slave is a gift for him, even if it comes in the form of a refusal. It is a grace even if it comes in the form of adversity. His trial is actually prosperity, even if it came in the form of disaster. But the slave’s ignorance and injustice pushes him to what he begins to consider as a gift, a blessing or prosperity only what he is pleased to feel right now, and what meets his requirements. But if the knowledge of Allah is revealed to him in some degree, then he will begin to consider the refusal of Allah in his prayer as a blessing, the test as mercy. He will enjoy adversity more than he enjoyed prosperity, poverty more than wealth. And for a small good he will be more grateful than for a great good. “
