Don’t waste

Narrated from Abdullah b. Amr b. al-Asa, may Allah be pleased with them, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) passed by Sa’d when he was doing a little ablution and said to him:

“What is this waste, O Sa’d?” Then he asked: “Is it possible to show excess in ablution?” The Prophet replied, “Yes, even if you are on the riverbank.”  Ahmad 2/221, Ibn Majah 425 See Silsilah al-Ahadith al-sahiha, 3292.

Sheikh ‘Abd-ul-Muhsin al-‘Abbad (may Allah bless him) said: “All scholars are unanimous that waste in the use of water is forbidden, even if a person is on the seashore)” (Sharh Sunan Abi Dawood).

Sheikh Ibn ‘Useymin (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “We should know that excessive use of water when performing a small and full ablution falls under the words of Allah Almighty:“ … do not waste, for He does not like the wasteful ”(surah“ al- A’raf, verse 31).

Therefore, scientists, may Allah have mercy on them, said: “Excessiveness or wastefulness is blameworthy, even if a person is on the bank of a river.” So what can we say about those places where water is extracted (with the help of mechanisms)? ” (Sharh riyad al-salihin).
