BENEFITS OF CARING FOR ORPHANS

Allah Almighty said: “They ask you about the orphans. Say: “Doing good to them is a good deed” (al-Baqara: 2: 220).

Almighty and Almighty Allah also said: “Therefore, do not offend an orphan! And do not persecute the one who asks” (ad-Duha 93: 9-10).

Hafiz Ibn Kathir, in his interpretation of this verse, said: “I.e. just as you were an orphan (O Muhammad) and Allah took care of you, then you do not offend an orphan, i.e. do not humiliate him, do not drive him away and do not oppress him.

However, be kind and gentle towards him. Qatada said: “Be like a compassionate father to an orphan.”

Allah Almighty also said: “Verily, those who unjustly devour the wealth of orphans fill their bellies with Fire and burn in the Flame” (an-Nisa 4:10).

Sheikh Mufassir Muhammad Amin ash-Shynkiti said: “These verses of the Qur’an contain a command not to harm the orphans and their property, but, on the contrary, seek to benefit them and their property.”

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The guardian of an orphan from among his relatives or strangers will be as close to me in Paradise as these two.” Having transmitted this hadith, Malik ibn Anas made a sign with his index and middle fingers.

Imam an-Nawawi said: “The guardian of an orphan is the one who takes care of his affairs, spending on him, clothing him, educating him, teaching him, and the like.

And this dignity deserves the one who took care of him from his property, or from the property of the orphan himself, which he disposed of in accordance with the provisions of the Shariah.
