And your children have a right to you

Allah Almighty said: “ O you who believe! Protect yourself and your families from the Fire, which will be kindled by people and stones ”(at-Tahrim 66: 6).

‘Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said regarding this verse: ” Educate yourself and your families in good, and also educate your families .”
Ibn al-Mubarak in “al-Birr wa-silya” 189

Abu Hasan ‘Ali Iqliya said: ” This verse indicates that we have a duty to teach our children and family members religion and goodness, as well as the required etiquette .”

According to Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), it is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Each soul of the sons of Adam is a master. The man is the master in his family, and the woman is the mistress in her house. “

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to me: “Do not do this, but fast and break your fast, pray at night and sleep, for truly, your body has a right to you, and your eyes have a right to you, and your wife has a right to you, and your children have a right to you, and your guest has a right to you. “

About the words “your children have a right to you *”, Imam al-Nawawi said: “This is an indication that the father is obliged to educate his child in what he needs from the provisions of religion.

And this training is compulsory for the father and other guardians of the child until the boy or girl comes of age.

Ash-Shafi’i and his supporters spoke about this. They also said that mothers owe it if there is no father, because this has to do with upbringing, in which they also take part. “

According to Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), it is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Hang a whip where family members can see it, because it is more effective in teaching them to discipline.”

Imam Ibn al-‘Anbari said: “In no way was it supposed to use this (whip) for whipping, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not order anyone to do this.
But the essence of the hadith is to constantly discipline the family. ”
