A million good deeds for dhikr

It was reported from the words of ‘Umar bin al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “If a person who comes to the market says: “There is no deity (worthy of worship) except one only Allah, Who has no partner; To Him belongs the dominion and to Him – praise! He gives life and death, but He Himself is the Living One who will not die; Goodness is in His hands, and He can do anything! La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la shikalahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu! yuhyi wa yumitu wa huwa hayyun la yamutu, bi-yadihi-l-hairu wa huwa ‘ala kulli shayyin kadir!” “Allah will record for him the accomplishment of a thousand thousand good deeds, erase (records) of a thousand thousand of his bad deeds and raise him a thousand thousand steps.” This hadith was narrated by Ahmad 1/47, a good hadith.

See Sahih al-Jami’ as-Saghir 6231.

Shaykh Abdul-Muhsin Al-Abbad was asked a question about this topic from his lesson on the hadith about entering the market”

Question: Regarding making this dua in a shop or grocery store, is this considered a market according to our custom?
The sheikh replied: In any case, if a person comes to a place of purchase and sale, even if he comes to a specialized market and says: “La ilaha illa Allahu wa xdahu la shara lyakh.” – This is what a person should do if he went to a place of sale, be it a general or specialized market.
