It is undesirable to have empty conversations after the “Isha” prayer

It was narrated from Abu Barza that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not like to sleep before the night prayer and talk after it.
Narrated by al-Bukhari 568; Muslim 647.

Imam al-Nawawi said in a comment: The
scholars said: The reason for condemning sleep before night prayer is the risk of missing the prayer due to sound sleep, or missing the preferred and best time for prayer, and the fear that people will take this matter lightly, fall asleep and miss the congregational prayer. The reason for condemning the conversations after the ‘isha prayer is that because of them a person can go to bed late and the fear that after falling asleep he will not be able to stand up at night ( qiyamu-leil ) and make dhikr, or perform the morning prayer on time, or at the desired time. or preferred time. A person who stays up late feels lazy during the day and this is reflected in his religious duties, worship and worldly affairs.
The scientists said: meaningless conversations after a night prayer are undesirable. But not conversations that have a good purpose, such as: study, stories about the righteous, a conversation with a guest or bride to cheer them up; a kind conversation with a wife and children, a conversation with a traveler about his protection or the protection of his luggage, reconciliation of people and mediation between them for a good purpose, ordering what is approved and forbidding what is condemned, instructing people to do good deeds, etc. All this is not condemned. There are authentic hadiths that testify to some of the things that we have listed, and everything else applies to this as well.
It is condemned to speak after the night prayer, and not with the onset of its time. The scholars agreed that it is makruh to talk after a night prayer if the conversations are not beneficial and good.
