Treat in Paradise for those going to the mosque

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said : “For the one who goes to the mosque (in the morning) or (after dinner), Allah prepares a treat in Paradise every time he does so” al-Bukhari, 662; Muslim, 669. Sheikh Ibn

Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy on him, said: “For the one who goes to the mosque (in the morning)” – that is, for the morning prayer (fajr). “or (after dinner)” – for example, for lunch (zuhr) and afternoon (‘asr) prayers. The hadith indicates that for one who goes to the mosque in the morning or after dinner, Allah will prepare a treat in Paradise, and it is not necessary that a person go to the mosque just for the sake of prayer. Perhaps he goes to the mosque to demand knowledge or do something else from the good. This is an indication of the mercy of Allah Almighty, Who will grant such a great reward for such an easy deed. See Sharh Riyad as-Saliheen, Hadith No. 123
