Haste from the shaitan
Indeed, haste / haste is a condemned quality , and at the core this quality comes from the shaitan.
Indeed, in a hurry, a person commits many rash, wrong, blameworthy and even forbidden deeds.
Therefore, some scholars included haste in the number of sins, moreover, grievous.
See al-Zawajir 1/215.
Allah Almighty said as a reproach: “Indeed, a man is in a hurry” (17: 11).
According to Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), it is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Calm from Allah, and haste from Shaitan.”
al-Silsilya al-sahiha ”1795.
Imam Ibn al-Qayyim said: “Truly, haste from the shaitan is because it is frivolity, recklessness and irascibility in a person, which prevents him from exercising discretion and gentleness, as well as making sure.
It becomes the reason that things do not fall into place, the consequence of which is numerous types of evil and an obstacle to numerous types of good. Haste is a companion of regret, since there were few cases when haste did not turn into regret. “
See ar-Rukh 1/258.
According to Sa’d ibn Abi Uakkas (may Allah be pleased with him), it is reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Slowness should be shown in all matters, except deeds related to eternal peace *.”
Abu Dawood 4810, See Saheeh al-Jami 3009.
Thus, some righteous predecessors, including Hatim al-Asam, said:
“Haste from the shaitan, except for five cases in which haste is Sunnah:
– in the guest’s treat;
– in preparing the deceased for burial;
– in the marriage of a virgin, if she has reached marriageable age;
– in the return of a debt, whose due date has approached.
– and in repentance for the sin committed ”.
