Excessive enthusiasm for dunya – from the species of small shirk.

Allah Almighty said:

“ To the one who desires a neighbor’s life and its delights, We will fully reward in it for their deeds, and they will not be deprived here. These are those for whom in the Hereafter there is nothing but Fire, and what they did here is in vain, and what they did is empty!
(Sura 11-” Hood “, 15-16 verses).

It is narrated from the words of Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه و سلم said:

“Unhappy is the slave of the dinar, unhappy is the slave of the dirham, unhappy is the slave of clothing, unhappy is the slave of decoration! He is pleased if he is bestowed with good, and if he does not receive anything, then he is angry. May he be unhappy, and all his affairs will be turned upside down! Even being pricked with a thorn, may he not extract it! Tuba – to the one who holds on to the bridle of his horse in the path of Allah, with disheveled hair and dusty feet. If he serves at the outpost, then he does it properly, and if he is in the rearguard, then he serves for real. When he asks for permission, he does not receive it, and when he intercedes, his intercession is not accepted. “
al-Bukhari 2887

Shaykh Ibn ‘Useymin, رحمه الله, said:

“And the case when a person excessively clogs his head and his heart with this dunya also applies to small polytheism.

And you will notice that his mind and his thoughts and his body and his sleep and his wakefulness – they are all bogged down in a dunya: What did he get out of her today, and what did he lose? And therefore, you will find him clever in this dunya, playing with halal and haram, lies and deceit, so that his affairs dovetail, and he does not care, because dunya enslaved him and may Allah bless us. Amine.

And the proof of this type of small shirk are the words of the Messenger of Allah, صلى الله عليه و سلم:
“️ May the servant of the dinar be unhappy! May the slave of the dirham be unhappy! May the slave to dress be unhappy (in another version, the slave to velvet, that is, accessories for furnishing the house). ”*

Do you think he is doing sujud dinar? Not! However, he took possession of his heart. He is not interested in anything other than decorating his clothes and decorating his home furnishings. This is all the more important to him than prayer and other forms of worship.

In continuation of the above hadith, the prophet, صلى الله عليه و سلم, says:
“… If he gets something, he is pleased. And if he doesn’t get it, then he is embittered. ” Those. if Allah bestows on him from his blessings, then he says: “This is the Great Lord, this is the Generous Lord, this is the Magnanimous Lord Who deserves all the best.” And if he doesn’t get something, then he gets annoyed.

Allah Almighty said (meaning):

“️ Among people there is also one who worships Allah, being on the verge between faith and unbelief. If he gets good, then thanks to this he feels confident [continues to be obedient to Allah]; if temptation befalls him, then he turns back [deviates from the Faith]. He loses both this world and the Hereafter. This is an obvious loss!
