An example of how Allah answers Dua

Ibn ‘Aqyl al-Hanbali, may Allah have mercy on him, told the following story from his life: “Once doing the Hajj, I found and picked up a pearl necklace strung on a red thread. Suddenly a blind old man appeared and started asking people about the necklace, ready to give 100 dinars to whoever finds it. I gave him back his necklace and he said, “Take the dinars,” but I refused.

After that I set out for Sham, visited Quds and headed to Baghdad. On the way, being frozen and hungry, I found shelter at a mosque in the city of Khalyab. I led her parishioners in prayer after being pushed forward by them. They fed me and said: ” Our imam is dead, so pray with us this month .”

This happened in the first days of Ramadan and I agreed to their request. They also told me: “Our imam has a daughter left.”

I married her and spent a whole year with her. She gave birth to a boy, after which she fell ill during the postpartum purification period (nifas). One day, looking after her, I saw on her neck that very necklace strung on a red thread.

I told her: “This necklace has its own story,” and then I told her it, after which she burst into tears and said: “ By Allah! You are the one! My father cried and said : “O Allah! Give my daughter a gift like the one who gave me back my necklace. ” And Allah answered his prayer. “
