On the Merits of Reading the Quran

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “The best of you is the one who teaches the Qur’an and teaches it to others. Bukhari, 4639

And he, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, also said: “Why don’t one of you go to the mosque and learn or read two ayahs from the Book of Allah, Mighty and Glorious? It will be better for him than two camels, and three verses will be better for him than three camels, and four verses will be better for him than four camels. And any number of verses will be better than the same number of camels.  Muslim, 1336

Ibn Mas’ud may Allah be pleased with him, said: ” Reading the Qur’an is my favorite than observing voluntary fasting . “
This message was reported by Ibn Abi Sheiba 30696. Isnad is authentic.
Imam al-Nawawi said: “Know that the correct and chosen opinion, which was held by the scholars on which they relied, is that reading the Qur’an is better than reciting tasbih ( Subhana-Llah ) and tahlil ( la ilaha illa-Allah ) and other types of remembrance of Allah. And there are many reasons for this. “
